Program Description:
SUMMER LANGUAGE PROGRAMS MAC ANDERSON SCHOLARSHIP

Mac Anderson Scholarship awards will be made to Duke undergraduate students for foreign language study abroad in Duke-administered summer programs.

Grants will be awarded without regard to need, and in awarding them the selection committee will consider the following preferential categories:

  • students majoring in foreign languages at Duke who are from Statesville, North Carolina, Iredell County, North Carolina, or the State of North Carolina;
  • foreign languages majors who are not North Carolinians;
  • students who are not majors in foreign languages but would benefit from foreign language study abroad and are from Statesville, North Carolina, Iredell County, North Carolina, or the State of North Carolina;
  • students not from North Carolina and not majors in foreign languages, but who would benefit from foreign language study abroad.

Preference will normally be given to students who will have completed their junior year at the time of their summer study abroad.

Students on financial aid are also eligible for a Babcock summer scholarship. Please note that students may only receive one Duke summer scholarship per program.

Seniors graduating in December or who have fulfilled their graduation requirements at Duke prior to the start of the fall semester are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Please note that there is only one default term for this scholarship application (Summer Term 1). All applicants should choose this term, regardless of the term in which their program takes place. You will indicate the program and term within the scholarship application.
