The University of Queensland (UQ) is a uniquely Australian representation of a classic university campus. Its campus, which sits along the Brisbane River, features distinctive sandstone buildings framed by flowering jacaranda trees along with cafes, playing fields, and lawns. At the same time, the campus is less than 5 miles from the center of Brisbane, providing for plenty of off-campus experiences.

With over 35,000 students, it's not surprising that UQ has more than 60 academic departments and 4,000 courses on offer every year. You can study anything from architecture to marine biology and psychology. Government and industry funded Cooperative Research Centres in fields such as mining, infectious diseases, tropical plant protection, and Aboriginal health illustrate the comprehensive nature of research and teaching that goes on at the University of Queensland.

During a semester at UQ, you can expect to take four courses per semester to earn 16 US credits. Your courses will be taught through a combination of lectures and tutorials, and you will be expected to show a great amount of individual initiative. Whether you are studying history or physics, a student body hailing from all regions of Australia and the world means you'll be introduced to an international perspective.
