This four-week, one course program in Havana, Cuba will provide an immersive experience that combines academic Spanish language and cultural studies content objectives. The program will provide students a unique glimpse into the intersections of race, gender, and sexuality in Cuban society. Students will explore historical sites throughout the island, meet writers, musicians, and activists, and visit local NGOs and grass roots organizations. Students will also improve their academic oral and written Spanish language proficiency while exploring Cuba’s rich history and culture and examining the present day challenges confronting the nation and its people.
