Why did you choose the program?
Program Testimonials
As a Spanish major, I knew it was crucial for me to involve myself in some sort of Spanish language immersion program. I also new that Spain, Madrid specifically, is one of the best places in the Spanish-speaking world to learn the Spanish as it is taught in the classroom.

Foreign Language
Program Testimonials
At first I was intimidated by the thought of all of my classes being taught in a foreign language, but I quickly realized that the Duke in Madrid staff was both capable and willing to help us overcome the language and the cultural barriers. The professors were amazing, and they actually started to feel like friends towards the end of the program.

How do you think someone in your major can benefit from study abroad?
Program Testimonials
I think it is practically crucial that anyone within the Spanish major study abroad to immerse themselves in the language and at least one of the spanish-speaking cultures. There was so much that I learned about Spain and the spanish language in my time abroad that I never would have learned in a classroom setting. I think anyone can benefit from going abroad and experiencing different cultures, but it is imperative that someone majoring in a different language/culture spend time in a region in which that language/culture is prominent.
